New Policy for 2023: A2 and above
While most students in the P2P program (World Language 100/200 with credit through STAMP) enter the program somewhere on the A1-spectrum, some students enter with a higher degree of proficiency, but seek credit in a language that is "not their first or primary" language. Students identified at the first week of the semester as "A2 or above" (B1, B2, C1, C2) according to the European CEFR proficiency scale will follow a modified pathway. Rather than a program suitable for students at the A1 level, they will be given more challenging material to practice with and be expected to take the STAMP test somewhat earlier than the students identified as A1. A2 and above students will take the STAMP during "Week 10" of the semester, to allow time for early results and application for the GLOBAL SEAL OF BI-LITERACY during the final weeks of the semester. Generally, students identified as "A2 and above" early in the semester score at least a 5.0 (Intermediate Mid) proficiency on the STAMP, equivalent to 12 hours of credit, though nothing is a given in testing. In addition to the 12 hours of elective credit, these students will be required to apply for the GLOBAL SEAL of BI-LITERACY at no cost to the student. Students who score better than 5.0 (Intermediate Mid) but less than 7.0 (Advanced Low) on STAMP will apply for the FUNCTIONAL FLUENCY certificate. Students who score a 7.0 or better will apply for the WORKING FLUENCY certificate. It validates what you've accomplished and doesn't look bad on a CV or resumé either!
